Job Shadow Reflection narrative. .For my job shadow I spend the day with Mrs. Pasillas, a 4 grade teacher at Kennedy Elementary School. I job shadow her because I wanted to experienced and work with the kids. And also because I want to be a 4 grade teacher. The teacher was really nice with me and also with the kids. I think she’s a really good teacher because while I was there she helped all the kids one by one, asking the kids if they need help in something or if they understand the work they were doing. I hope I could be a great teacher like her.
While I was there, I helped the teacher with many thinks like working one by one with the kids, especially the kids who are a little bit behind or the ones who needed work the most. I helped the kids with Math, multiplying, subtracting and more. . I also helped the kids with their writing and reading. Some of them were really smarted and they did a good job while I was working with them. Other not so much. Some of them were just playing around and I got a little mad because I wanted them to put attention but they didn’t want to. I had lunch with the teacher and talked about the kids and what they were learning at that moment. She said that sometimes she takes work to her house and she tries to figure out what the kids need most help. I really enjoyed working with the kids and the teacher. I learned that to be a teacher you need to have patience with the kids because some days the kid are going to be happy and some days they are going to be mad or sad about something. I also learned that some kids are going to have trouble learning new things. Others are going to be troublemakers and those are the ones who are going to have the most trouble working with. Like I say before, I like how the teachers works one by one with the kids and asking them if they need help or if they have any questions. What I didn’t like was that the teacher spends little time teaching a subject. She teaches a subject for like 15 minutes. What I would do is teach a subject for about 40 or more minutes and then ask the kids if they need any questions or if they need help with something. After this experienced I still want to be a 1st or kindergarten teacher. I really like to work with little kids and teach them new things by doing fun activities while they are learning. I really liked working with the kids while I was doing my job shadow. This helped me a lot to be prepared for the future. I need to be practice or control my patience because I get mad easy and I really need to control myself around the kids. So in a couple of years I would be in Mrs. Pasillas place, but working with preschool or kindergarten kids. Job shadow: Interview worksheet |
